History of Care for Life Suicide Prevention Network (CFLSPN)

Care for Life was originally formed as the result of a suicide prevention seminar in 1995 which was hosted by the Gold Coast Youth Service.  At the completion of this seminar the participants decided that action had to be taken to stem the numbers of youth suicides that were occurring within our community and in Australia.

A group was formed called the Gold Coast Youth Suicide Prevention committee this name was continued until 2000 when the LIFE [Living is For Everyone] framework was introduced by the Commonwealth Dept. of Health and Aged Care. Care for Life decided that there was a need to broaden our focus to include all ages, subsequently Care for Life: Suicide Prevention Assoc. was formed and became incorporated.
